THE HISTORY

In December of 2007 the building formerly known as Ken’s Pizza (1st and Beech) was given to the church.  A committee was formed to decide how the building could best be used and it was recommended to the church that the building be demolished and the space used for parking.  During the following year, a strategic planning weekend attended by staff and lay leaders from all across our church ministries, resulted in several recommendations.  One of these was that the over-crowded situation with the youth in “The Shed” be addressed as well as a better meeting place for the college ministry.

 In business conference, the “Ken’s Pizza” committee was expanded and changed to a “Long Range Facility Study” committee.  That committee began to look at the long-range needs of the church in regard to facilities.   In business conference, the church approved the hiring of an architect (H and H Architects of Dallas) to meet with the committee to design a 20-year master plan for the church facilities.  The” Vision First” committee was presented to the church for approval and set about the task of leading us into a capital stewardship campaign for the purpose of raising funds to address our most pressing needs.  The Vision First campaign was conducted in the spring of 2011 resulting in over $925,000.00 in pledges. 

 As of September 2011, 23% of those pledges have been paid and an additional $40,497.23 has been given to the Vision First campaign.  While the pledge campaign was the largest in the church’s history, input is still needed from the church family to make a final decision of what to build, when to build and how to pay for it.  God’s promise to us is that if we lack wisdom and ask Him sincerely for it, He will give it abundantly (James 1:5).  Please give us your prayerful input and God bless you.
