FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH NURSERY POLICY

  1. Nursery care will be provided only to permit the person bringing a child to attend a church function.
  2. For the protection of all children, Nursery workers are instructed to notify the Nursery Coordinator immediately of illness. She may refuse admission to any child who is obviously ill, or whose body temperature is above normal. If your child becomes ill while in the preschool area, you will be notified to come immediately and get the child.
  3. A child should not be taken to the preschool area when any of the following exist:
    • fever within the past 24 hours
    • vomiting
    • diarrhea
    • any symptom of the usual childhood diseases—scarlet fever, German measles, chicken pox, mumps, or whooping cough, croup
any skin infection—boils, ringworm, impetigo, staph, or infectious rash
    • pink eye or other eye infection
  4. Please label all belongings with the child’s name (diaper bag, coat, cap, bottles, pacifiers, etc.)
  5. Parents should complete the sign-in sheet on the clipboard outside the door of the child’s classroom. This takes only a few short minutes and will assist workers in locating you should it become necessary.
  6. The preschool workers and coordinators will always give your child the care and attention he or she needs. Therefore, the family is requested not to return to the preschool area unless absolutely necessary. Very often a child is content until a member of the family looks in. The child then thinks it is time to leave and gets upset when the parents leave them. If you feel a need to check on your child, ask the coordinator to do so for you.
  7. Only one parent or guardian should bring and call for the child to lessen congestion in the preschool area. No child will be released to another person – including siblings – without written permission from the parent or guardian.
  8. Please bring the following labeled items for younger preschoolers:
3 diapers, training pants, if appropriate .. diaper ointment
2 prepared plastic bottles, extra change of clothes.
  9. Please bring plastic bottles only. Glass bottles may get broken, not only losing the contents, but also creating danger from broken glass.
  10. The preschool workers are instructed not to administer any medication.
  11. Meals will not be served. Nutritional snacks may be served by workers on Sunday mornings and evenings, Wednesday evenings and at other times as approved by the Nursery Coordinator.
  12. Children should not bring toys, gum, food, or candy except by special arrangement with the Nursery Coordinator.
  13. A baby schedule card should be filled out by each parent- including visitors – who place a child in a Bed Baby room. Care will be provided according to those instructions.
  14. Come for your child immediately at the close of a church function. All children should be picked up no later than 10 minutes after the end of a service or activity. This courtesy will be greatly appreciated by the preschool workers and will prevent your child from becoming fearful or anxious if left after the other children have gone.
